In 2013, TRIC showcased two media art works at the Istanbul-Gyeongju World Culture Expo in Türkiye. These pieces explored themes of Silk Road exchange and Korea’s deep historical ties to the broader Eurasian cultural network.
The immersive videos were part of the official Korean pavilion, offering Turkish and international audiences a dynamic introduction to Korea’s heritage — not through static relics, but through digital storytelling rooted in cultural archetypes and symbolic imagery.
The first piece, titled “The Journey of Hyecho,” follows the 8th-century Silla monk Hyecho on his travels through India and Central Asia — a journey he recorded in the Memoir of the Pilgrimage to the Five Kingdoms of India.
The second work, “Seokguram,” offered an immersive view of Seokguram Grotto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Gyeongju and a masterpiece of Buddhist architecture that marks the eastern terminus of the Silk Road.
Both videos were exhibited from August 31 to September 22 at Sultanahmet Square in Istanbul, introducing global visitors and local Turkish audiences to the spiritual and artistic legacies of Silla and Gyeongju
