The Lord of Buddha, a KBS documentary featuring participation from the Technology Research Institute for Culture & Heritage (TRIC), received the “Good Program of the Month (October)” award from the Korea Communications Standards Commission.
Aired nationwide on KBS 1TV at 11:20 p.m. on October 17, the documentary tells the story of Baekje King Chang, son of King Seong and a monarch who ushered in the golden age of Buddhism during Baekje’s peak.
TRIC digitally reconstructed the royal temple Wangheungsa—central to the documentary’s narrative—and developed it into real-time digital heritage assets for use in metaverse and game engine environments, creating immersive virtual scenes of Baekje’s past.
Actor Park Ki-woong served as the presenter, stepping into the time and world of King Chang to empathize with the monarch’s inner conflicts and aspirations from 1,500 years ago.
