TRIC conducted a project in 2018 to create a physical replica of the mural at the Josadang Shrine of Buseoksa Temple.
This project not only digitally restored the original mural in its physical form but also recreated soil fragments (surface layers) identical to the target wall. For the recreation of the soil fragments, multi-segment photography was conducted over two days inside the Buseoksa Museum to secure basic data for the mural replication. To make the wall identical, it was produced based on historical records and original materials.
For the digital physical restoration and mural printing, a 50-megapixel DSLR and professional lenses were used to secure sufficient resolution and rich colors. Additionally, a Color Management System (CMS) was introduced to match the on-site environment with the workspace, reproducing colors identical to the original.
