Bringing Heritage to Life Through Media Technology
TRIC developed immersive digital content for the historic Sodaeheon–Hoyeonjae residence, designated as National Folklore Cultural Heritage No. 290. This large aristocratic house in Daejeon is notable as the home of Kim Hoyeonjae, one of the three most renowned female literary figures of the Joseon Dynasty. The experience was carefully designed to lead visitors through a narrative path, weaving spatial storytelling with interactive media. A digital folding screen in the Osukjae hall invites guests to explore the refined aesthetics of the yangban class. This is followed by an emotive shadow-play media façade that shares the family history of the Sodaeheon household. Visitors then engage with a media table, where they can place scrolls inscribed with Hoyeonjae’s poetry and listen to them come alive through ASMR audio. Finally, a volumetric AR experience allows them to roam freely around the historic home, uncovering stories and moments of daily life from centuries past. More than just a technical feat, the project respects the essence of cultural heritage while breathing new life into the site — offering a vivid, repeat-worthy heritage experience that bridges past and present.
