A Joseon-Era Landscape Painting Returns in Digital Form
TRIC (Technology Research Institute for Culture & Heritage) created immersive digital content based on the Chilbosan(Seven-Jeweled Mountains) Folding Screen, a prime example of late Joseon-era landscape painting. The project was part of the Cultural Heritage Administration’s initiative with the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation to reinterpret Korean artworks housed abroad through advanced digital technology.
Exhibitions held both in Korea and the U.S
The final immersive content premiered simultaneously at the National Palace Museum of Korea (2nd floor special exhibition hall, Gyeongbokgung Palace) and the Cleveland Museum of Art in Textile Gallery. The cross-continental exhibition allowed audiences in both countries to encounter Korea’s classical painting tradition through a new medium.
