As part of the Korea Creative Content Agency’s large-scale immersive content initiative “Gwanghwa Era,” TRIC created the “Gwanghwa Mural” — a monumental public media project. A 50-meter LED screen was installed on the outer wall of the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History, right in front of Gwanghwamun Gate. By using the screen’s L-shaped structure, the project delivers a striking 3D illusion through anamorphic visuals. The signature piece, Chronicles of Gwanghwa, explores pivotal moments in Korean history from the relocation of the capital to Hanyang to the modern day — all centered around Gwanghwamun. The narrative unfolds through bronze diorama statues, asserting that every Korean — not just figures like Admiral Yi Sun-sin or King Sejong — is a rightful part of this national legacy. These moments are reimagined in a continuous bronze tableau, from the gate’s founding by Yi Seong-gye and Jeong Do-jeon, to Korea’s postwar recovery and global cultural influence, and into a hopeful future.
